Due to the Flint Water Crisis the most vulnerable population of young children needs early intervention strategies to help mitigate the effects of lead in the drinking water that has affected them since April 2014. Early childhood programs that are already servicing the children of Flint need immediate support and a system for improving services to these children.

Early childhood providers are the first responders that see and work with children on a daily basis. UM-Flint ECDC is the only nationally accredited birth to age 12 program in the county with the expertise and resources to support other early childhood programs. We are equipped to help the recovery process of the children and families in Flint by educating and linking early childhood programs to services that already exist in our community.
